Agapes Acupuncture

Acupuncture: Fine sterile needles are placed into certain acupoints of the body to improve the flow of energy, or Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) in order to increase one’s overall well being. Acupuncture has been proven effective for its healing effects for many types of ailments.

Electro-acupuncture: This treatment provides continuous stimulation to acupuncture points through the use of low voltage electrical current delivered through acupuncture needles. The intensity of treatment is adjusted to each patients tolerance level.

Acupuncture injection: A procedure in which drugs, vitamins, herbal extracts, or other fluids are injected into the body at an acupuncture point using a syringe and needle.

Acupressure: Acupressure involves placing physical pressure by hand, elbow, finger, or with the aid of various devices on different acupuncture points on the surface of the body.

Auriculotherapy: Auriculotherapy is a health care procedure via acupuncture in which stimulation of the auricle of the external ear is utilized to alleviate health conditions in other parts of the body.

Herbal therapy: Utilizes the healing properties of plant and other extracts to assist in the treatment of many common ailments.

Moxibustion: This treatment uses the herb mugwort. The herb is burned and then used to warm acupuncture points to quicken the healing process.

Trigger point therapy: Process where pressure is applied or needles are inserted at specific points to treat reoccurring pain in a taught band of muscles. Inection of anesthetic may also be used to help relax the muscle.

Qi Gong exercise: Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) means “energy exercise.” It is an exercise that combines slow movement with deep breathing, similar to Tai Chi and yoga.

The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as an effective treatment option for more than 40 ailments. It is a proven effective method of treatment for many common health problems.
