What is Acupuncture exactly?
Acupuncture consists of the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points which have been shown to be useful in treating specific problems. The process is relatively painless and many patients begin to see positive effects within a few treatments. Each needle is no thicker than a piece of hair and is individually packaged and sterilized so there is virtually no chance of infection.

How many treatments will it take?
Many patients begin to feel results after only a few visits. The amount of visits necessary to achieve the goal depends on the patient, the problem being treated, the length of time problem has been present , age of patient and many other factors.

Does it hurt?
Since acupuncture needles are so small, many never feel them being placed on the body. Some areas may experience a warm or heavy feeling at the site of the needle, however it is mostly a relaxing process.

Does it really work?
Acupuncture has been proven to be helpful in the treatment of many health problems. It is an effective form of treatment that can be utilized in conjunction with or as an alternative to traditional medical practices. It even works on dogs, horses, and other animals. You do not have to believe it will work in order to have it work.

What are some of the common ailments that acupuncture assists in treating?

Is acupuncture safe?
If conducted by a trained and licensed practitioner, acupuncture is virtually without complications. Disposable needles are packaged and sterilized leaving almost no chance of infection. Bleeding does rarely occur when the needles are removed but it is minimal and easily controlled with pressure. Major complications are extremely rare.

What should I do to prepare for my first visit?
We will send you a health questionaire to fill out prior to your appointment. Be sure to bring your insurance information along with you. Feel free to call us if you have concerns. Relax and wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Ask questions at any time and tell your practitioner if you feel any discomfort during the treatment.
